[3] Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable. [4] One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.

FAQ

The Built Up Initiative seeks to address 4 areas of need as we have experienced recent growth:
(1) Kids classrooms
(2) Inadequate parking
(3) Cramped lobby space
(4) Outdated bathrooms
While we will prioritize kids' classrooms, the plan is to expand and update all of these areas while leaving room for a larger sanctuary in the future.
Our total goal is $800,000.
Our plan is to seek half ($400,000) through Built Up commitments over a three-year period through the following ways:
(1) A large, one-time gift between now and December 31, 2023, to get this expansion project going immediately.
(2) An ongoing gift commitment over the next 3 years to reach our goal of $400,000.

Raising these needed funds ensures that the next generation will continue to hear about the mighty works of God (Psalm 145:4) while we seek to leave a spiritual legacy that lasts.

Thank you so much for how you support the mission and work of God through our church!
From our humble beginnings setting up and tearing down at an elementary school to the updated renovation of our current building, we’ve seen how God has used these places and spaces to build up our church body to be sent out on Gospel mission in glorifying God, loving our neighbors and making disciples who make disciples. Through God’s grace and your continued sacrificial giving, we eagerly await what God will do in this next phase of life here at GCC!
Throughout the Built Up Initiative, some will be able to give more, some will be able to give less. Regardless, it is not about equal gifts, it is about shared sacrifice.
“You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God.”
[2 Corinthians 9:11]

While giving from your weekly or monthly cash flow is the most common way people give, we encourage you to be creative in considering how to maximize your gift for the kingdom. Other options to consider, many providing additional tax benefits, include:
(1) Stocks, Bonds, & Mutual Funds
(2) Giving through an endowment or charitable trust
(3) Gifts from an estate, life insurance, or through a bequest
(4) Qualified Charitable Distributions from your IRA
(5) Gifts of Other Assets: (Land, Real Estate, or other physical assets)

As you are considering and praying through what it would look like for you and/or your family to participate in our BUI giving campaign, we believe it is important to have a good financial overview of our church as a whole. Here is some information we think could be helpful in this process. If you have any questions, reach out to Joey@gcclex.com
LATEST UPDATES
Building Update: May 2024
Received detailed plans from the architect.
BUI team was created to review the detailed plans and support reviews of bids and overall project direction. This team includes Jonathan Maupin, Kathryn Maupin, Whitney Tobais, Eric Abshire, Zack McKinney, Savannah Guthrie, Joey Fink, and Chris Jones.
Received bids from two general contractors to do both the renovation of the existing building (bathrooms and lobby) and to build the addition for additional kids space. These bids did not include parking which we would have to bid out separately.
One bid was extremely high and we have thrown that out. The second bid was a little higher than we would like and we plan to do a few things.
Meet with the architect and contractor for a cost analysis meeting.
Identify items in the bid that may be driving price and see if there are opportunities to postpone portions of the project, do some work ourselves, modify the plans, or a combination to meet our target price.
Identify other subcontractors to provide quotes for trades which were about
We have also been working with the architect on how best to package the project for city approval. The architect has been in conversations with the city for the project and will formally submit for approval once we identify any changes to the design from the cost analysis meeting and identify potential splitting of items for approval. Once we submit to the city, we will need to build what we submit so we don’t have to keep revising, so we want to get to a final design that makes wise financial sense and also will be approved by the city.
Financial Update: May 2024
We have been so encouraged by your faithful giving as we work through the details of the project. Since the start of the campaign, 95% of people who made pledges have continued giving and over $110,000 has so far been given which is outpacing pledged progress by about $7,000 to date.
